The Euphoria anime is an Original Video Animation made by Studio Majin. And if you are looking for it to be related to the popular HBO hit teen drama, Euphoria starring Zendaya, then this is not it. Instead, this is a six-episode-long cultured anime based on the visual novel of the same name.

The Euphoria anime follows Keisuke Takatou, voiced by Ichiki Mitsuhiro, who suddenly wakes up in a featureless white room, unaware of how and when he arrived. While exploring his whereabouts, he notices six familiar girls huddled around a large monitor (you see where this is going).

The girls include his childhood friend Kanae Hokari, the class president Miyakou Ando, his English teacher Natsuki Aoi, his junior Rika Makiba, and his classmates Rinne Byakuya and Nemu Manaka. All six of them must make sense of the situation they are in.
Soon, a voice suddenly declares through the monitor, “The game will now commence.” The rules of the game are apparently simple yet brutal; assigned as the “unlocker,” Keisuke must have sex with a girl in every round. Only after he has done this for five rounds will the group be promised freedom to the outside world.
They find it in a very cruel manner what the withdrawal from the game will result in, and as they are left with no other option, the terrified captives concede, and thus a sadistic game of pleasure and pain begins.

During the years since its release, Euphoria has reached cult status. The series has been regarded as one of the best in its genre. The visual novel of the anime is also wildly popular and has even been called “life-changing” by popular youtube personality, Sydsnap, during an episode of Trash Taste Podcast.
Meanwhile, HBO’s hit series Euphoria follows Zendaya as Rue, who is a drug addict struggling to stay sane in the harsh realities of the world and follows the depressing world of teenagers filled with sex, alcohol, and drugs, assault, blackmail, love, and so much more.
The hit HBO series has been nominated for a number of awards, including the most prestigious television award, the Emmys. While there is some excellent acting in the TV Show, if you truly look at it, it is bit similar to the anime in a lot of aspects. Both the shows have an incredible amount of drama full of absurd scenarios.

The Euphoria anime certainly goes beyond your wildest expectations. While the anime series is not for everyone, and we do advise caution, if all of this sounds enticing to you, you are in for a great couple of hours of television.
The Euphoria anime was released over the course of six years and also has a light-novel sequel titled, Euphoria: Another Room.
