Elon Musk, who has been incredibly vocal about his support for Donald Trump and his intense dislike for just about anything Democrat, liberal or “woke”, has once again turned his attention toward major tech companies, accusing Google and Microsoft of political bias.
Musk, who famously purchased Twitter for $44 billion and has since been trying to rebrand it as “X”, recently made a tweet criticizing the tech giants over their political donations, alleging a disproportionate financial backing of Democratic causes.
In his latest remarks, Musk pointed to a report from Quiver Quantitative, which revealed significant donations from Google and Microsoft employees to the Kamala Harris and Joe Biden campaigns.
According to the data, Google employees contributed a staggering $1.4 million to Democratic candidates, while Microsoft employees donated $743,000. Musk, who himself tweets his heavily Republican-biased and pro-Trump views several times a day to the 199 million followers he has, argues that these contributions reflect a potential bias in how these companies operate, given their vast influence over web browsers and search engines.
Google & Microsoft very disproportionately donate to the Democratic Party.

Between them, they control close to 100% of web browsers and search. Even with the best of intentions, they can’t help but introduce bias. https://t.co/qGqxDPFuB8
Musk’s tweet read, “Google and Microsoft make disproportionate donations to the Democratic Party. They collectively dominate nearly 100% of web browsers and searches. Even with the best intentions, they can’t avoid introducing bias.”
In contrast to the donations from tech employees to Democratic campaigns, the Quiver Quantitative report also highlighted the corporations backing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Companies like American Airlines ($134,000), Walmart ($83,000), and Lockheed Martin ($69,000) were among the top contributors to Trump’s campaign. Musk’s focus, however, remained squarely on Google and Microsoft, suggesting that their control over the digital landscape makes their political biases particularly concerning.
This isn’t the first time Musk has accused tech companies of bias. Earlier in the year, he criticized Google’s autocomplete feature, claiming it intentionally avoided showing suggestions related to Donald Trump. He went as far as to accuse the company of imposing a “search ban” on Trump, a claim Google vehemently denied, stating, “That’s not happening, and we want to set the record straight.”
While there hasn’t been any real proof of companies like Google and Microsoft influencing elections by showing bias towards either Republicans or Liberals on their platforms, Musk, however, has not only used his platform to express his conservative views to the masses but has even shared a massive amount of misinformation regarding Harris and her campaign and has even resorted to calling the current Vice President a “communist” on multiple occasions.
Kamala is quite literally a communist.

She wants not merely equal opportunity, but equal outcomes. https://t.co/XIS8HSbLbC
Musk has been targeting Kamala Harris ever since it was announced she would be the new presidential candidate of the Democratic Party. He has since tweeted multiple AI-generated images and videos of her and has also accused her of importing voters.
They are importing voters https://t.co/catIutSCrU

The Tesla owner, who was recently named in a cyberbullying lawsuit filed by Algerian boxer Imane Khelif after her Olympic win, has been targeting anyone influential who has endorsed Harris. He was so triggered by pop star Taylor Swift’s support for the Harris-Walz campaign that he publicly made a wildly inappropriate comment about wanting to “give her babies.”
Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life

Musk has used plenty of theatrics to promote the Republican candidate who has publicly gone on to say that he would enlist Elon Musk to run a “government efficiency commission” if he wins a second term as US president. He has probably been even more busy posting and reposting stuff that discredits the Harris-Walz campaign.
If Google and Microsoft are, in fact, “biased” about the 2024 US Elections based on whose campaign their employees are donating to, a similar logic should be applied in regard to the bias of the owner of X, which we suppose rather makes Musk’s whole argument quite redundant.
Meddl Leude Rainer hier.
