One Piece surpasses Demon Slayer to enter the Top 3 as Jujutsu Kaisen remains the Most Popular Manga Series of 2022.
Jujutsu Kaisen remains the Most Popular Ongoing Manga Series in Japan as it crosses 7 million copies in sales for the fiscal year of 2022 thanks to Volume 19 of the series going on presale last week and is likely to even cross the figure of 8 million copies by this week’s end as the latest volume hit the stands this Monday.
Jujutsu Kaisen has sold over 5 million copies in backlogs this year with the help of the boost in sales the series has gotten ever since the release of the prequel movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, continuing its incredibly consistent run from 2021.
The series saw a huge 288% boost in the sales of its backlogs within the first week of the release of the prequel anime movie. And just as this incredible start of the year finally looks to have settled down for Jujutsu Kaisen, the manga series has released its latest tankobon volume this month.
The movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, has been a huge success and is already the 9th Highest Grossing Japanese Movie Ever at the Domestic Box Office making over 13 Billion Yen.
The film is now out in North America where it has made $29.6 million so far after its third weekend, making it the fourth highest-grossing anime film ever at the American Box Office. Additionally, the film has made $1.6 million in the UK and $4 million in France since its release last month.
The movie has also made over $8.7 million in Taiwan and $4.5 million in Korea, bringing its worldwide total to a massive $159 million.

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 18, which was released in December 2021 is currently the Best Selling Manga Volume for the fiscal year of 2022 with more than 1.909 million copies sold.
The Second Season of the anime is also in production at MAPPA and is scheduled to come out in 2023.
Tokyo Revengers, which had been at the top of the Oricon Monthly Charts for six consecutive months prior to January returned to the first spot once again with the release of Volume 26 of the series in February and its continued momentum has seen the series top the Monthly Oricon Charts once again this month.
The latest volume has already sold 891,000 copies as of March 26th.
Tokyo Revengers had been seeing a steady decline ever since the anime aired its last episode in September but with the release of Volume 25 of the series in Mid-December, which has sold over 1.04 million copies as of March 6, even the backlogs have gotten yet another significant boost.
The manga series sold 1.411 million copies during February which is on par with the previous month and has sold over 800,000 copies in March.
One Piece has moved up to the third spot as Volume 102 of the series went on presale this past weekend. The series was the Best-Selling Manga Series of last week selling 263,923 copies.
The previous volume of One Piece was released in December where it sold more than 1.65 million copies and is the Second Best-Selling Manga Volume for the fiscal year right now. The series has also sold over 300,0o0 copies in backlogs during this fiscal year, once again proving that the One Piece hype train never exactly goes off steam.
Mystery to Iu Nakare has also moved up a spot as it is currently the 4th Most Popular Manga in Japan and has crossed over 15 million copies in circulation following the continued success of its Television Drama Adaptation which premiered in January on Fuji TV.
The TV Series starring Masaki Suda has been scoring more than 20 million viewers every week with Live+7 DVR viewing and the manga series has already sold over 2.25 Million Copies in the fiscal year of 2022.
Mystery to Iu Nakare has also been nominated for the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize alongside Young Jump’s Oshi no Ko, JoJolion ( (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 8), and Kaiju No. 8 from Jump+.
Meanwhile, with the conclusion of the broadcast of the Entertainment District Arc, Demon Slayer has fallen out of the Oricon Weekly Top 10 for the first time in ages and the series is currently in the 5th spot in the yearly charts.
Most Popular Manga Series of 2022 So Far: My Dress-Up Darling crosses 1 million copies for the fiscal year.
My Hero Academia is coming off from its most successful year yet in 2021 where it even outdid One Piece to become the 5th Best-Selling Manga Series of the year. Volume 33 of My Hero Academia was released on the first Friday of February and according to Weekly Oricon Charts, the volume has already sold 725,000 copies.
The series is currently in the 6th spot selling over 1.9 million copies within the first four months of this fiscal year.
Kaiju No. 8 has also continued its remarkable run and is currently in 7th place in the list following the release of its latest volume last month which has already sold over an insane 544,000 copies in just 17 days. The series’ estimated total for this fiscal year is now more than 1.65 million copies as it remains the only manga in the Top 10 without a TV adaptation.
Kaiju No. 8 also won the Next Manga Awards of 2021 for Best Manga (Digital Category).
Oshi no Ko, which won the Next Manga Awards of 2021 for Best Manga (Print Category) is in the 24th spot selling over 500,000 copies.
Meanwhile, The breakout hit of Winter 2022 Anime Season, My Dress-Up Darling has now entered the Yearly Top 10 with the release of Volume 9 of the series, which has sold over a whopping 127,089 copies in its first three days even surpassing the latest volume of Kaguya-sama: Love is War, which sold over 85,000 copies in the same time frame.
The only Romance Manga series that has managed to sell over 100,000 copies in just three days over the last couple of years aside from the former two is The Quintessential Quintuplets.
My Dress-Up Darling has sold over 1.36 million copies ever since the start of the anime and is turning out to be one of the biggest rom-com of this generation.
The first volume of the series has now sold a cumulative total of over 350,000 copies.
Kingdom is in the 9th spot following the release of Volume 64 of the series. The latest volume of the series has sold over 595,000 copies within 24 days of its release, bringing the yearly total of the manga series to over 1.35 Million Copies.
Blue Lock concludes the first half of the list as it continues to enjoy a solid boost in the sales of its backlogs the series has gotten since the announcement of the anime adaptation by Studio 8bit as it is currently the 10th Most Popular Manga of the fiscal year of 2022 in Japan selling over 1.21 million copies already.
Blue Lock Volume 18 was also released in Mid-March and has gone on to sell a massive 133,238 copies in just 11 days.
With the series showing this much potential already, it would not be wrong to say that it might just even challenge Kodansha’s blockbuster hit, Tokyo Revengers.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is in the 11th spot with the release of Volume 20 of the series last month. The latest volume of the manga has already sold over 391,000 copies bringing the total for the series to just above 1.18 million copies this year.
SPY x FAMILY takes the 13th spot selling over 1 million copies within the first four months of this fiscal year without releasing a single new volume. With the commencement of the broadcast of the anime this Saturday and the release of Volume 8 this week as well, the series will likely hit the Top 5 in no time.
SPY x FAMILY has over 15 million copies in circulation, which is the highest number for any Shonen Jump series prior to the broadcast of its anime adaptation. The series is already one of the Most Popular Manga Series in Japan right now and we just can’t wait to see the new heights it will reach with the anime.
Another notable entry in the bottom half of the list is Dr. Stone, which is in 14th place selling over 975,000 copies within this fiscal year. Volume 24 of Dr. Stone was released in January where it sold 204,992 copies in its first month while Volume 25 of the series has already sold over 203,000 copies in just 24 days of its release.
The manga came to an end in the Weekly Shonen Jump earlier in March.
Most Popular Manga Series of 2022 So Far: Haikyuu!! still remains in the Top 20 without even an announcement of Season 5.
Haikyuu!! is in 16th place selling over an estimated 935,000 copies so far. The series recently announced a bunch of upcoming projects including a new One-Shot during the manga’s 10th anniversary. The final volume of the series was released in November 2020 while the latest season of the anime concluded in December 2020 and despite that, the series continues to have a very solid and praiseworthy run in Oricon every month.
The fifth season of Haikyuu!! has not been announced yet.
Meanwhile, Attack on Titan has sold over 725,000 copies in backlogs thanks to the broadcast of Part 2 of the anime’s fourth and final season, the series is currently in 19th place on the list.
Part 2 of Attack on Titan Season 4 came to an end on April 3 with the 87th episode of the series as the anime is set to wrap up its run with a third and final part next year that will cover the remaining 9 chapters of the manga series.
