Selena Gomez Embraces Vulnerability and Tells Critics to ‘F— Off,’ ‘I’m Not Ashamed of My Bipolar Disorder or Inability to Carry Children’

Selena Gomez recently made a powerful statement about the importance of vulnerability, while addressing her experiences with not being able to carry children and living with bipolar disorder. During an emotional speech at a recent event, the 32-year-old actress and singer spoke candidly about her struggles, telling her critics to “f— off” for attempting to shame her.

“I truly believe that there is power in being vulnerable and telling people when you need help,” Gomez said, as her younger sister,  Gracie Elliott Teefey, sat beside her in support. The speech was met with applause from the audience, who shared in Gomez’s belief that honesty is a source of strength.

The Only Murders in the Building star emphasized that her openness is not something to be ashamed of. “Yes, I shared that I can’t carry a child. Yes, I shared I have bipolar. F— off. That’s what my life is like,” Gomez said unapologetically, encouraging others to embrace their own truths.

Gomez also expressed her desire to advocate for women and the struggles they face. “I share my story because I want to be honest — because everybody’s going through something,” she explained. “I don’t have it all together. I’m just me. And that’s all I can be.”

Her candid speech followed an earlier interview with Vanity Fair in which Gomez revealed for the first time that she is unable to carry her own children due to health concerns. “I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s life in jeopardy,” she told the magazine. “That was something I had to grieve for a while.”

Despite the challenges, Gomez said she is now in a much better place emotionally and has embraced alternative paths to motherhood. “I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me,” she explained. “I’m excited for what that journey will look like. It may be different, but it’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”

The actress has long been open about her health struggles, including her battle with lupus and her bipolar disorder diagnosis in 2020. Her latest revelations reflect her ongoing commitment to being an advocate for mental health and breaking down stigmas surrounding personal hardships.
