We are past halfway through the year, and it has been a delight for us anime fans. We have been treated with some great sleeper hits such as Ya Boy Kongming and Summer-Time Rendering this year, alongside plenty of high-profile sequels such as Demon Slayer Season 2 and Attack on Titan Season 4, both of which created a never before seen hype on social media amongst the anime community every week. And who can forget Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season 3 (certainly not the Fullmetal Alchemist trolls), as the series has become the highest-rated anime of all time on MyAnimeList.

We have also been blessed with the wholesome and record-shattering SPY x FAMILY, which has quickly become a fan favourite and has instantly become the talk of the town. And if we are talking about wholesome new titles, Marin Kitagawa and Gojo Wakana from My Dress-Up Darling certainly had the entire anime community in the feels during the first three months of the year.

  1. I do find it a bit funny that the second and fourth best selling shows of the year so far weren’t even considered notable.

No question the hype is real for Spy x Family and My Dress-Up Darling. Those shows did nice work and same goes for Demon Slayer. But those aren’t the only noteworthy sales results of the year so far.

  2. This has been a solid year of anime so far. No shock that Demon Slayer is doing so well. Although props to Love Live doing so well itself.

Definitely impressed by how “Princess Connect! Re:Dive Season 2” has done. Of course the mobile game aspect is part of it, but that second season was really good. Absolutely deserves to be among these shows. Also, good for “The Demon Girl Next Door Season 2” since that was a much anticipated sequel for me.
