2025 SAG Awards Winners List: Timothée Chalamet, Demi Moore and Conclave Win Top Prizes

The 31st annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, where Conclave took home the coveted Ensemble in a Motion Picture award. The Focus Features drama, which recently won Best Film at the BAFTAs, is also up for eight Academy Awards next weekend.

SAG’s ensemble prize is often a strong predictor of Oscar success, with past winners like Parasite and CODA going on to claim Best Picture at the Academy Awards. All of this year’s nominees for the SAG ensemble award are also in contention for the top Oscar prize.

Surprise Wins Shake Up the Acting Categories

While Conclave’s win wasn’t shocking, the night was filled with unexpected moments. Demi Moore secured a career-defining victory for Female Actor in a Motion Picture for her performance in The Substance, continuing her awards-season dominance. Meanwhile, Timothée Chalamet pulled off a major upset in the Lead Actor category for his portrayal of young Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, surpassing early frontrunners.

Netflix’s Emilia Pérez added another win to its collection, with Zoe Saldaña taking home the award for Female Actor in a Supporting Role. Meanwhile, Kieran Culkin continued his impressive streak, winning Male Actor in a Supporting Role for A Real Pain, adding to his Golden Globe, Spirit Award, and Emmy victories.

One notable shutout of the evening was Anora, which had dominated the Spirit Awards and saw its star, Mikey Madison, win at the BAFTAs.

Comedy & TV Categories See Upsets

The night’s biggest TV surprises came when Martin Short claimed Male Actor in a Comedy Series for Only Murders in the Building, beating out The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White. The Hulu series also won the Ensemble in a Comedy Series award, marking a major milestone for Short, Steve Martin, and Selena Gomez.

Meanwhile, Colin Farrell’s turn as The Penguin in the Disney+ limited series scored him the Male Actor in a TV Movie or Limited Series award. Despite Baby Reindeer’s Richard Gadd being an early favorite after wins at the Emmys and Spirit Awards, Farrell secured the SAG victory.

FX’s Shōgun continued its dominance in the Drama Series categories, with Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai winning Male and Female Actor in a Drama Series, respectively. The series later won the Ensemble in a Drama Series award, solidifying its status as a major contender this awards season.

Jean Smart added another trophy to her collection, winning Female Actor in a Comedy Series for Hacks, while Jessica Gunning claimed the Female Actor in a Limited Series award for her chilling performance in Baby Reindeer.

Hollywood Honors First Responders & Jane Fonda Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Amid the glitz and glamour, the evening also paid tribute to the brave first responders who battled last month’s devastating Los Angeles wildfires. SAG-AFTRA’s Duncan Crabtree-Ireland introduced an invited firefighter during the pre-show, earning a standing ovation. Host Kristen Bell later gave a playful shout-out to the “most attractive table” in the audience—where the first responders were seated.

Hollywood legend Jane Fonda received the prestigious SAG Life Achievement Award, delivering an impassioned speech that was both reflective and defiantly optimistic. “This means the world to me,” Fonda said. “Your enthusiasm makes this feel less like the twilight of my life and more like a ‘go girl, kick ass’ moment— which is good because I’m not done.” She also used her platform to speak on the current political climate, urging Hollywood to stand up and fight.

As the awards season nears its climax with the Academy Awards just around the corner, the SAG Awards have once again provided plenty of surprises, upsets, and memorable moments—setting the stage for an unpredictable Oscars night.
