After weeks of trading diss tracks and exchanging insults and accusations with Kendrick Lamar on social media, Drake appears to have left the feud behind and has moved on past their rap beef.
At least that’s what his producer, collaborator, and longtime friend Gordo thinks as he dishes about Kendrick and Drake’s beef in a recent interview.
“He’s been past it,” the Grammy-nominated producer, 33, says. “The thing is that he was just on the longest tour ever [It’s All A Blur Tour – Big As The What?]. He literally did a tour for like a year. I think he’s just chilling.”
The rap feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar began in March when Lamar dissed Drake on Metro Boomin and Future’s track “Like What.” Drake responded with “Push Ups,” leading to a series of diss tracks with both artists hurling insults, allegations, and more back-and-fourth at each other.
Things finally seemed to have settled down in May after Lamar released his diss anthem “Not Like Us,” followed by Drake’s “The Heart Part 6,” with many publications and music critics citing Lamar as the winner of the feud.
Despite fan speculation that Drake might be feeling down after his unofficial defeat, Gordo insisted the rapper has been in a surprisingly good mood throughout the feud with Lamar.
“Ever since all this has happened… I’ve seen him happier,” He said. “It’s really weird. He’s pretty jolly… The internet makes it seem like, ‘Oh, that photo, he’s all sad and s—.’ That’s just a bad photo from a bad camera. But because it’s him, it’s put under a magnifying glass like, ‘Oh, look at his eyes. He’s looking a little droopy. He hasn’t slept.’ But the guy’s been happy as s—, to be honest. He’s chilling.”
Gordo revealed that the pair hung out more than ever during Drake’s beef with Lamar as they both have been working on Gordo’s debut album under his new alias, “Diamante,” set for release on July 26. This 15-track house music album continues their successful collaboration with Drake’s 2022 dance album, “Honestly, Nevermind.”
Gordo also talked about his admiration for Drake during his interview and said that he heavily values Drake’s high regard for his musical talent, seeing it as validation for his contributions to the house music scene. “It’s beautiful to be appreciated by someone who is the greatest to ever do it, at least for our lifetime,” Gordo said.

His new album will also feature a new track with Drake called “Sideways.”
