Demon Slayer Season 4 is finally here, and it has basically picked off where it left last year with the anime’s Hashira Training Arc premiering with a mighty viewership of 14.7 million, scoring an individual rating of 11.7% in Japan with Live and 7 Days of DVR Viewing.

Demon Slayer was the Second Most-Watched TV Show in Japan during the week of its premiere, as more than 8.9 million households tuned in to the hour-long premiere episode.
The premiere of Demon Slayer Season 4 has managed to rack in stellar viewership figures despite the fact that the first episode of the new season and the last two episodes of the Swordsmith Village Arc were released as a feature, titled ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – To The Hashira Training,’ which went on to gross over $60 million at the Global Box Office and over $13 million in the anime’s home market.

The premiere of Demon Slayer Season 4 scored a live viewership of 4.9 million across 3.6 million households during its late-night broadcasting slot. Only Sazae-san’s episode from the same week managed to outdo Demon Slayer’s live viewership, with more than 6.5 million people tuning into the long-running family comedy.
It should, however, be noted that, unlike Demon Slayer, Sazae-san is a primetime anime.
Demon Slayer Season 4: How does the viewership fare to the previous seasons?
To compare things with previous seasons, Demon Slayer Season 3 premiered with a staggering viewership of 15.47 million (+0.7 million compared to Season 4’s premiere) and scored an individual rating of 12.3% in Japan.
More than 9.18 million households tuned in to the premiere episode last year. Meanwhile, the Entertainment District Arc of Demon Slayer Season 2 premiered with a Live+7 viewership of 10.683 million in December of 2021.
Despite probably everyone having already read the Demon Slayer manga in Japan, the Demon Slayer hype train shows no sign of stopping more than five years after the anime’s premiere.

What is Demon Slayer Season 4 about, and where can you watch it?
