Netflix has released some very exciting data regarding viewing figures for its Original TV Series and Movies released in the first half of the year. And both Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead and Kevin Hart’s Fatherhood have produced some insane numbers in its first 28 days of release.
Most-Watched Movies of 2021 on Netflix So Far:
Netflix estimates that Kevin Hart starring family comedy Fatherhood, which was released on June 18, has been watched by 74 million accounts in its first 28 days of release.
The streaming giant also revealed viewing figures for Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, which has now been watched by 75 million accounts in its initial period, 3 million more accounts than the 72 million accounts Netflix had initially predicted.
Netflix Animation has also found massive success as The Mitchells vs. The Machines, which features the voices of A-listers such as Danny McBride and Olivia Colman, has now become Netflix’s biggest animated film to date.
Netflix revealed that this Sony Pictures Animation’ sci-fi comedy has been watched by 53 million accounts in its first 28 days.

This puts it way above the 43 million accounts that Over The Moon brought to the platform or the 38 million accounts that The Willoughbys saw tuning into it in the same period.
It is also notable that Army of the Dead is now tied with Project Power at the eighth spot as Netflix’s most-watched films. Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction remains the platform’s most-watched feature film with 99 million accounts tuning in to it.
Most Popular TV Shows of 2021 on Netflix So Far:
Netflix’s original TV programming also continues to be doing remarkable. With the streaming giant’s latest DC comics outing, Sweet Tooth, being its biggest hit of the year so far with more than 60 million accounts tuning in to the show within the first 28 days.
The first season of the fantasy series based on Grishaverse, Shadow and Bone, also did tremendously well as it saw an estimated viewing figure of 55 million accounts in its initial run. Lupin has also continued the momentum from its insane hype that the first part which dropped in January got with 54 million accounts returning for Part 2.
Another freshman series that performed really impressively in the numbers came in the form of Netflix’s popular true-crime docu-series as The Sons of Sam was watched by a whopping 19 million accounts.

As far as the returning shows are concerned, the Spanish teen drama Elite returned with its fourth season last month and has continued to dominate the Netflix charts with 37 million accounts tuning in to it while the second season of the Mexican crime thriller, Who Killed Sara? garnered 34 million accounts.
Meanwhile, its more unique and spicy reality shows offerings also continue to rack up impressive numbers as Season 2 of the dating show Too Hot to Handle, pulled off a massive 29 million accounts to its doorstep while the sophomore season of The Circle, a social experiment reality program attracted an estimated 14 million accounts.
It should be noted that Netflix’s popularity and viewing statistics come with a big catch as the streaming service counts a show or movie as watched after somebody played it for a mere two minutes.
Netflix’s viewership system does differ vastly from others such as Nielsen ratings which pretty much track the entirety of TV programming. And just about anybody might play anything for 2 minutes without actually watching it any further if not found to their liking.
